IUCA Members Unite for Show Your Stripes Day 2026

Universities across the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA) came together on 20 June to support this year’s Show Your Stripes Day, a global campaign that uses climate stripes to visually communicate rising temperatures and highlight the importance of climate science. The annual initiative, founded by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins, transforms decades of temperature data into a simple but powerful visual representation of our warming world. By sharing these striking graphics and hosting activities that promote climate literacy, organisations around the world help raise awareness of the urgent need for climate action.

Across the Alliance, members found innovative ways to engage their communities with the campaign. Activities ranged from social media outreach and campus displays to creative projects, public engagement events, and educational resources designed to spark conversations about climate science and sustainability.

Highlights from IUCA Members

The success of this year’s Day of Action reflects IUCA’s commitment to supporting trusted climate communication and strengthening collaboration between universities worldwide. By acting together, members amplified the visibility of climate research and reinforced the urgency of addressing the climate crisis through informed action and global cooperation.

IUCA extends its thanks to all member universities that participated in this year’s Show Your Stripes Day and shared their activities with the alliance. Their collective efforts demonstrate the strength of the global higher education community in advancing climate awareness and inspiring positive change.

We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to work together to promote climate research, sustainability, and climate action across our international network.
