Description: This introductory session gives policymakers a practical overview of how policy decisions can drive effective climate action. It explores how areas such as transport, energy, buildings, food and land use are interconnected, and uses the En-ROADS climate simulation to demonstrate which policy measures can have the greatest impact on reducing global warming.
The session will introduce positive and negative tipping points and explore the different roles governments can play as regulators, funders, demonstrators and enablers, from national to local levels.
It will also provide a concise overview of the global climate regime, political institutions and legal frameworks that shape climate adaptation and mitigation.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of where policy interventions can have the greatest impact and how governments can turn climate evidence into action.
