Description: More than a billion children already face at least one threat to their development from climate change. Extreme weather, malnutrition, and displacement can all impact the growth and progression of a child, with the results lasting a lifetime. As these events become more common, we need to adapt our education and health systems to protect the most vulnerable in our society and to ensure the continued advancement of low- and middle-income countries.
The Children and Climate Initiative is a global research and policy development project focused on evidencing how climate change is and will be affected by climate change. We are a global consortium based at the University of Oxford, and we work with some of the largest datasets available on both climate modelling and early childhood development.
In this session, we will present our latest findings and show how we use research and community participation to engage policy makers with the ambition of developing evidence informed solutions. We will hear from speakers from across the project to show the breadth and depth of our work, and to drive a call for child centred adaptation.
