IUCA Executive Committee Meeting 2026 | 21st May
The 2026 Executive Committee meeting of the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA) focused on reviewing strategy, governance, and future priorities for the Alliance.
The Committee, made up of senior leadership from Member Universities, met virtually to consider the proposed IUCA Strategic Plan for 2026–2028 and to review the annual budget, initiatives, and overall management of the Secretariat. Key contributions came from Alliance Chair Professor Robert Van de Noort, CBE, Global Academic Lead Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez, OBE, and IUCA Director Rose Armour.
A major theme of the meeting included a discussion led by Professor Van de Noort on protecting information integrity and IUCA’s role in supporting reliable climate knowledge in the public sphere.
Guest speakers contributed examples of work that they are doing on climate communications. These included Associate Professor Maria Armoudian, Social Science, Director of the Sustainability Hub; Director, Nga Ara Whetu, Centre for Climate, Biodiversity & Society, University of Auckland, and Tatjana Baleta, Wikimedia, Visiting Fellow for Climate, University of Exeter.
The Committee also received a final report from outgoing IUCA Director Chaseley Cameron titled “Universities Collaborating for Climate Impact 2020–25”, which highlighted IUCA’s growing global influence in advancing evidence-based climate solutions.
