Monash University is taking a diverse delegation of academics, professional staff and students to COP31 in Türkiye, bringing expertise across climate and health, Indigenous knowledge, youth leadership, just energy transitions, resilience, oceans and water, and the circular economy.

With a decade of engagement as a UNFCCC Observer Organisation, Monash is continuing its work to connect research, partnerships and practical solutions at the global climate conference.

The University of Helsinki is heading to COP31 in Türkiye as part of a joint University of Helsinki–Aalto University delegation, bringing together researchers with expertise spanning climate science, energy transitions, sustainable cities, circular economy, sustainability innovation, climate governance, education, communication and climate justice.

From understanding our changing climate and transforming energy and urban systems to advancing circular solutions, climate justice and more effective climate communication, the delegation brings a broad range of research perspectives to the conversations surrounding COP31.

A team of Arizona State University researchers is testing one possible answer: using CO2 from the air to help grow cyanobacteria and algae, tiny photosynthetic organisms that can be used to make fuels, chemicals, proteins, pigments and other useful products.

This philosophy forms the bedrock of Alice Clara Aluta-Rore’s academic mission as a Doctor of Philosophy candidate in Pacific Studies at The University of the South Pacific (USP). Under the prestigious Norway-Pacific Ocean-Climate Scholarship Programme (NPOC), a bi-institutional initiative between USP and the University of Bergen, Norway, Rore is documenting how rural Solomon Islands women utilise local knowledge systems to build climate-resilient futures.

Chancellor Paul Lindley OBE is joined by Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez OBE and broadcast meteorologist Laura Tobin to discuss some of the key questions surrounding climate change.
