Climate Week NYU Kickoff, Sunday, September 22, 1-4pm - On Governors Island, NYU will create an interactive space featuring science outreach, art exhibits, and other activities led by NYU community members and local organizations focused on sharing ways to engage in climate action.
Plastics and Human Health Symposium, Monday, September 23 and 24, Schwartz Ground Floor, 435 E 30th Street - The NYU Langone Health Center for the Investigation of Environmental Hazards will host this convening with a heavy translational emphasis and an eye toward the Global Plastics Treaty negotiations.
What Grows in the Ashes: The work of hospitality in a burning world, Monday, September 23, 6-8pm, 7 East 12th Street, 5th floor - Join Professor Christopher Gaffney as he moderates a conversation between Dougald Hine (At Work in the Ruins, 2023) and Maura O’Connor (Ignition: Lighting Fires in a Burning World, 2023), two leading thinkers on climate change and the politics and ethics of science, technology, and climate.
Emissions Accounting to Accelerate Decarbonization, Tuesday, September 24, 10am-4pm, 40 Washington Square South - The conference will bring together a wide array of stakeholders to discuss different approaches to carbon-dioxide-emissions accounting and their potential to make clean energy procurement policies and corporate commitments more effective, in the U.S. and internationally.
Reducing Mortality in a Future with Extreme Heat: Introducing Project HEATWAVE, Thursday, September 26, 2024, 2:00 - 3:30pm, NYU Langone Health, Alumni Hall B, 550 First Avenue - Local and global policymakers will discuss the tools most urgently needed to manage risk and prevent deaths from extreme heat, and innovators will share progress on developing solutions.
NYU Stern and Law Student Real Estate Conference: Powering the Future: from electrification to smart buildings, Friday, September 27, 9:30am-5:30pm.
