Trees in urban areas are highly effective in reducing harmful heat exposure and improving outdoor comfort in cities, according to a new study. Weather measurements in Leeds have shown that many green spaces, such as parks, gardens and forests, were cooler than surrounding urban environments, also known as grey spaces.

A new study from the University of Cape Town shows how polluted rivers can become spaces for innovation, recovery and community-led change rather than symbols of decline alone. Where Polluted Rivers Meet Possibility highlights efforts to transform wastewater and damaged landscapes into living laboratories for sustainability.
